MasterCard SecureCode
What is MasterCard SecureCode?
MasterCard SecureCode is a free online service that makes shopping online more secure. It enables cardholders to choose a private code to protect them against unauthorized card use when they shop online at participating merchants. More than 350,000 online retailers support transactions made with SecureCode.
How to Register for SecureCode
Activation During Shopping (ADS)
Cardholders who do not already have a SecureCode will be automatically prompted to select their code when they attempt to checkout after shopping at a participating online merchant. This process, referred to as Activation During Shopping (ADS), enables cardholders to quickly and easily register for SecureCode and select their personal, private code. Cardholders will be presented with CUETS MasterCard window directly on the merchant site asking the cardholder to choose a SecureCode before completing their purchase. Once a cardholder has registered and selected their SecureCode, they can simply enter their code along with their MasterCard card information when making any future online purchases at any SecureCode participating merchant.

How Does MasterCard SecureCode Work?
Once you've registered and created your own private SecureCode, you will be automatically prompted by the merchant at checkout to provide your SecureCode each time you make a purchase with a participating online merchant. Your SecureCode is quickly confirmed by CUETS and then your purchase is completed. Your SecureCode will never be shared with the merchant. It's just like entering your PIN at an ATM.
When you correctly enter your SecureCode during a purchase at a participating online merchant, you confirm that you are the authorized cardholder and your purchase is then completed. If an incorrect SecureCode is entered, the purchase will not be completed. Even if someone knows your credit or debit card number, the purchase cannot be completed without your SecureCode at the participating merchant.
