Recruitment Process Expand/Collapse

Innovation Credit Union is looking for candidates that not only match our preferred hiring criteria which include technical skills, education, knowledge and experience but that also possess the motivation, attitude and behavioral competencies that differentiates us from our competitors. We know that having the right people with the right attitude in the right position makes our organization stand out from the rest.

Selection Process
STAGE 1: Our recruitment panel consisting of a People Division Specialist and the hiring manager/supervisor evaluates each candidate based on the information given in the applicant’s cover letter and resume and compares that information against the preferred hiring criteria and needs of the position. Short-listing could include a telephone pre-screen to help narrow down the selection process.

STAGE 2: Those candidates successful in being short-listed will be contacted personally by a People Division professional to set up a face-to-face interview. (See our Interviews section for more details.) Only those applicants who are under consideration for an interview will be contacted. While a video (Skype) interview could be a form of short-listing, you will be required to make yourself available for a personal face-to-face interview before an offer of employment will be extended.

STAGE 3: Electronic reference checks will be conducted with those candidates that are being considered for the position. We require 5 references where at least 2 need to be current and/or past managers. If you are unable to use your manager from your current employment, please be aware that this would still be a condition of employment should you be made an offer of employment. Those candidates interviewed but not selected will be contacted by a People Division professional personally by telephone.

NOTE: Innovation Credit Union does not give specific feedback about the interview to those candidates that are unsuccessful.

If you are selected for an interview, we will contact you directly. Some positions may require a skills assessment during the selection process and some positions may have a pre-screening interview by telephone where you will be asked very general questions.

A full interview is done face-to-face where you will meet with a People Division Specialist and a  Manager/Supervisor. The interview will take approximately 1.5 hours and consist of a series of behavioral event interview questions. We will be looking for recent (12 - 18 months), specific, work-related examples that illustrate how you have behaved in work-related situations that demonstrate behavioral competencies applicable to the position. Recent and relevant examples from experiences gained through volunteerism, schooling or committee work are acceptable as well. We will ask you what you specifically said, thought, felt and how you reacted to the situation.

Please feel free to bring notes and/or copies of recent performance appraisals along to your interview. You will have time to ask us questions as well.

If you are the successful candidate for the position, we will make you an offer of employment. Your offer of employment is contingent on the following:

  • The candidate’s ability to become bonded without conditions 
  • A criminal record check satisfactory to Innovation
  • Review of your credit bureau rating satisfactory to Innovation
  • A current employment reference check satisfactory to Innovation
