An NSF (Non‑Sufficient Funds) fee is charged when there isn’t enough money in your account to cover a withdrawal, payment, or transfer. Starting March 12, 2026, we will be reducing these changes to ensure more affordable access to everyday banking services.

An NSF (Non‑Sufficient Funds) fee is charged when there isn’t enough money in your account to cover a withdrawal, payment, or transfer. Starting March 12, 2026, we will be reducing these changes to ensure more affordable access to everyday banking services.

NSF Fee Reduction Details

What is changing?

Starting March 12, 2026, NSF fees on personal accounts will be reduced:

• CAD accounts: from $45 to $10 CAD

• USD accounts: from $45 to $5 USD

You will never be charged more than one NSF fee within a 2‑business day period.

You will not be charged an NSF fee if your account is overdrawn by less than $10.

Who Is Impacted by This Change?

These NSF Fee changes apply to Personal accounts including  our No-Fee Bank Account (Personal), No-Fee USD Account (Personal and Business), Savings Account (Personal and Business), and Business Accounts for Sole Proprietors including ‘Operating As’.

Corporations, Partnerships and Community Service Accounts are not affected.

Why make this change?

The Government of Canada has introduced new regulations to help reduce financial stress for Canadians. These changes ensure more affordable access to everyday banking services. All federally regulated banks and credit unions in Canada must adopt these same changes under federal law as of March 12, 2026.
