Goodsoil Credit Union votes to amalgamate

The Goodsoil Credit Union membership has voted in favor to amalgamate with Innovation Credit Union.

“We were very happy with the turnout and the results of our vote. We would like to thank our members for their confidence and support of our recommendation to amalgamate with Innovation Credit Union," says Patrick Sonntag, Goodsoil’s Board President. "It's fantastic to see members utilizing the democratic cooperative principle to make their voices heard." 239 Goodsoil Credit Union members came out to vote and 95.8% of those members supported the special resolution.

The effective date for amalgamation is January 1, 2019 and after this date, Goodsoil Credit Union will be able to provide financial products and services to its membership from a variety of different service channels. “This amalgamation will ensure Goodsoil’s continued success and presence in the community well into the future,” indicated Goodsoil GM Ron Inkster. “The offer Innovation Credit Union gave us was very sound, no job loss, board representation and a legacy fund just being a few of the items” stated Inkster.

“Goodsoil Credit Union will continue to serve its’ members with the same exceptional service. It will be business as usual as we transition over to Innovation Credit Union. We will be working hard behind the scenes to merge our credit unions, and we will communicate with our members along our journey. Our team is engaged and excited for the future of our organization,” stated Inkster.
